위 선거문구와 함께 그간 학생회장으로 인사드린 음우현입니다. 여러분들의 지난 1년은 제 소망대로 KSA와 함께 더욱 밝고 즐거운 생활로 가득 찬 시간들이셨나요?
감사하게도 전 학생회장이라는 신분으로 많은 분들께 환대를 받아 누구보다 행복한 일년을 보냈습니다. 교수님들과 학생들, 그리고 한인 커뮤니티를 구성하는 여러 사장님들이 건네주시는 밝은 인사와 격려들은 제가 얼마나 감사한 자리에 있는지 매번 상기시켜주는 기분 좋은 자극제였습니다. 나아가 저희가 기획한 행사에 도움을 주신 은인들을 뵈면 다시 열정이 타올라 한인학생회를 위한 다음 행사를 고민하곤 하였습니다. 그런 모든 분들과 덕분에 제가 구상한 모든 행사를 추진할 수 있었으며 그렇기에 지난 일년은 뿌듯함과 감사함으로 가득한 시간이었습니다.
다양한 연구들을 소개하고 논의한 학술 콜로퀴움 행사부터 시작하여, 학생들간 교류를 넓히기 위한 세-게 테마기행, 게인스빌의 매력을 소개하기 위해 마련한 승마 및 골프 강의들등등. 다양한 행사들과 함께 저희 학생회는 학생들의 복지 향상을 위해 힘써 달려왔습니다. 특히 그간 임기중에서도 저희 학생회는 가장 활발하게 지역 상권과 연합하여 학생들에게 그 혜택을 나눠주려 노력하였습니다. 이와 같은 성과는 많은 분들의 도움과 참여 덕분에 일궈낸 결과이지만 그중에서도 저희 학생회 임원 학생들의 열정이 빛을 발하였습니다. 환영, 승주, 현재, 도영, 헌, 윤영, 서연, 수연. 해당 학생들이 바쁜 학업에도 한인 학생들을 향한 희생정신으로 학생회 활동을 활발하게 참여해주었기에 모든 행사가 원만하게 마무리될 수 있었습니다.
회장이라는 자리는 무엇보다 책임을 지는 자리라 생각합니다. 그렇기에 저희 학생회의 아쉬웠던 점은 과문한 제게 책임을 물어주시고 학생회와 함께한 즐겁고 만족스런 추억은 모두 저희 학생회 임원들께 그 공로를 돌리겠습니다.
이제 전 아쉬운 마음을 뒤로하고 연구라는 제 본업에 집중할 계획입니다. 지난 시간동안 학생회장으로서 만난 소중한 인연들과 추억들은 학자의 길을 걸어가는 제게 큰 응원과 길잡이가 될 것입니다. 모두가 건강하고 행복한 내일을 맞이할 수 있도록 저 또한 누구보다 가까운 곳에서 응원하겠습니다.
